Tuesday, July 15th 2014 - James River State Park to Howardsville

Sean the fly fisherman
Trip Reporters: Erin and Sean

This morning we started very early. Breakfast consisted of yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. We were visited by some very friendly guests from Dominion and Project Healing Waters who were kind enough to provide us with fly fishing instruction and experience, not to mention Krispy Kreme donuts.

Both Patrick and Cam caught small mouth bass and there were several bites. Even though most of us did not catch fish, we still had a lot of fun.  We traveled a record-setting 21 miles. The group left James River State Park and arrived tired but eager at Howardsville. Surprisingly enough, the all-day paddle felt like the blink of an eye. The long paddle of our journey was spent swimming, splashing, and spraying other boats with water guns. For dinner the camp chefs prepared pesto pasta, and it was delicious. After a long day of paddling, we were all exhausted and easily found sleep on the riverside.
